Geek to Live: Automatically back up your hard... →
When was the last time you backed up the important files on your computer? Last year when your best friend called in tears after the Blue Screen of Death ate her thesis? Yeah, I thought so. Hard drives fail. It’s a fact of computing life. It’s not a matter of whether or not your computer’s disk will fry, it’s a matter of when. The question is how much it will disrupt your...

Jailbreaking your iPhone 3G (or iTouch.) -... →
I’ve had my iPhone 3G since September, and for months I had been reading articles on jailbreaking the iPhone. It felt like so much work when reading through all of the articles found, but the process was so easy and quick. Since I’m using a Windows machine, I went ahead and decided to use QuickPWN to jailbreak my phone.

Die, Live.com! // VOID-STAR.NET β →
Sure, you can block the bot, but the bot isn’t the problem per se; it’s the referrers. I figure no-one important actually uses Live.com, so it’s not like I’m missing out on anything by banning people from coming to here from there. Besides, if someone is really keen to visit, they can always type the URL in manually.

Is Your Diet For Life? →
If you started 2009 with good intentions that have somehow fallen by the wayside, ask yourself whether your diet was sustainable. A successful diet is for life - not just for January, or for a couple of starvation-level weeks before a big day. Following a very strict, unrealistic or highly restrictive plan just sets you up for failure.

Bond with Mom Helps Kids Make Friends →
A child who has a strong relationship with Mom during preschool years tends to form closer friendships in grade school, finds a new study that also indicates why. “In a secure, emotionally open mother-child relationship, children develop a more positive, less biased understanding of others, which then promotes more positive friendships during the early school years,” said researcher...

The Death Of “Web 2.0″ →
I’m not going to discuss the economic meltdown and its devastating effect on technology companies and internet startups in this post, but rather something that crossed my mind earlier this morning: “Web 2.0″ seems to become more and more a void (and an avoided) term. Of course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it is definitely apparent.

Bust out of money-fighting rut with spouse -... →
My husband and I would have the perfect marriage if there were no such thing as money. On most issues, David and I are on the same page, but when it comes to cash we’re reading completely different books. I’m a saver who balances my checkbook to the penny; he’s a spender who knows only “about” how much cash is in the bank.
